Tour Director Jackie has been with us a few years now, she is lucky to call the awe inspiring landscape that is Scotland home. She regularly hosts our Essential Scotland tour, we've asked her a few burning questions as to why its such a wonderful place to visit...

Why is the Essential Scotland tour special to you?

Who doesn’t like to show off their back garden? Scotland is my home and, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful place on earth.

What are your favourite elements of the tour?

I like that we include different areas of the country which gives an introduction to the differing geological landscapes and history Scotland is home to.

Which is your favourite whisky & why … if you can choose!

For an everyday whisky you cant go wrong with something from the Glenlivet distillery - light, floral and easy drinking. For a special occasion? Definitely Glenmorangie Signet which is smooth, rich and chocolatey!

Can you name a favouite part of Scotland?

The broad leaf woods of Perthshire - the beautiful landscape of Skye - oh, and the Moray Firth to watch the dolphins! You wanted me to pick ONE place?

Can you name a best bit of the tour?

Without a doubt the evening at Bogbain near Inverness where guest experience Scottish storytelling, music, food and traditional dancing. Every guest takes something special from the experience.

Tell us one of your favourite memories of a tour gone by in Scotland?

As the guests sipped hot chocolate and a dram of whisky on a “dreich” (dreary/bleak) Scottish morning whilst we cruised on Loch Lomond, the sun came out and lit up the surrounding hills - everyone came up onto the deck and there was silence as they took in the breathtaking scenery.

Finally, why do you think our fellow travellers should visit Scotland?

Everyone should visit Scotland at least once in their lifetime - rare life-affirming moments, cultural idiosyncrasies and supernatural showcases of scenery. Each generation of Scots has created their own unique cultural thumbprint. 50 million people across the globe claim Scottish ancestry - why not trace yours?
