DAY 1 - Arrive Rio de Janeiro

Welcome to Rio de Janeiro! Upon arrival, we will be transferred to our hotel along Copacabana Beach. We’ll enjoy a welcome dinner together this evening.

Included meals: Dinner

DAY 2 - Rio de Janeiro

The Corcovado Mountain has been Rio's top attraction, widely sung about by famous Brazilian composers. Our tour will leave the hotel riding along the beaches of Rio. Passing the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (lagoon) we will reach the Rebouças tunnel, a 2.6 km long complex that links the southern and northern parts of the city cut in half by the Tijuca ridge. The National Park is 5 minutes from downtown and once in the Cosme Velho district, we will take a cogwheel train that climbs the mountain from its base at 15 metres almost its summit at 670 meters. The very top is reached by climbing a flight of steps reaching the base of Christ the Redeemer statue. The view from this vantage point is breathtaking - with the surrounding Tijuca National Forest spreading below and a circle of mountains closing the horizon at the very back of the Guanabara Bay.
We'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 3 - Cook in Rio

Today we’ll be joining a ‘Cook in Rio’ cooking class. Here we’ll have a chance to prepare, cook (and of course eat!) our special Brazilian dish. After some time at leisure we’ll take a short trip to our restaurant where we’ll enjoy our last dinner in Rio.

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 4 - Iguassu Falls

We fly this morning to the Brazil/Argentine border and transfer to our hotel overlooking the unforgettable scenery of the Iguassu National Park. Treats for the eyes and soul include beautiful tropical nature, vistas, and 275 thundering cascades. We enjoy our dinner together at the hotel.

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 5 - Iguassu Falls Walking Tour

We will go on a walking tour on the Brazilian side of the falls with viewpoints at a variety of levels. The trail winding towards the falls is populated by contis; long-tailed racoon-like creatures with a well-developed sense of tourists’ feeding habits! At its end, an elevator provides speedier access to a viewing platform at the foot of the falls. After our walk we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch before some time at leisure and dinner at a local restaurant this evening.

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 6 - Manaus & The Amazon

We will be transferred to Iguassu airport for our flight to Manaus. Arrival and transfer to the Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge. A trip to the Monkey Forest is next. It is a restricted area where wild animals come and go freely. There is always a feeding time schedule, under the supervision of the biologist and/or personnel with credentials to do so.

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 7 - Amazon Exploration

After breakfast there is an opportunity to join a nature hike and explore the biodiversity of this Eco Park. We’ll see uncatalogued species in virgin rainforest, natural savannahs and creeks. Several streams of crystal clear warm water run through the land. The local guide will tell you all about the local flora and fauna, how and where to find edible fruits and potable water, how to find your own way in the forest and much more. After a short rest, we’ll visit the home of local Amazonian residents.

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 8 - Meeting of the Waters, Amazon

We depart early today aboard a regional double deck boat. The boat goes down the Negro River navigating along the shore of Manaus, allowing passengers to view the Amazonas Theatre, the port, customs and interesting aspects of local life – like the stilt houses. Today we’ll see ‘the meeting of the waters’ which is a spectacle formed by the merging waters of Negro and Solimões Rivers. From this point on it becomes the famous Amazon running all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The waters of the two rivers run alongside, not mixing, for about 12 km.
We’ll enjoy a buffet of regional and international dishes in a rustic local restaurant. For those of you who would like to join us on a canoe ride, there’ll be an opportunity to go piranha fishing!

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 9 - Salvador

This morning we'll have some free time after breakfast to enjoy the natural pools before we transfer to Manaus airport. We fly to Salvador, where Brazil was born and where its history is evident in the colonial buildings and African culture. Arrival and transfer to our hotel.

Included meals: Breakfast & Dinner

DAY 10 - Salvador Historical Tour

A morning spent enjoying an historical tour of Salvador. Leaving the hotel, our tour will stop at Barra Lighthouse, entrance to All Saints Bay. Baia de Todos os Santos, or “All Saints' Bay” is not only the biggest bay in Brazil but also one of the biggest in the world. The tour will pass by Santa Maria Fortress, Porto da Barra where Tomé de Souza docked in the 16th Century; Ladeira da Barra, Vitória and its 19th Century mansions; Campo Grande and the monument of the Liberation of Bahia, Castro Alves Theater, Sete de Setembro Avenue and its throbbing commercial life; São Bento Monastery and last but not least - the main stage of Bahian Carnival - Castro Alves Square. Our tour will continue visiting the upper entrance of the Lacerda Lift; Terreiro de Jesus - a square with 5 churches, among them the Basilica Cathedral, the Saint Francis of Assissi church - built in the 18th Century and Pelourinho, declared in 1985 as an UNESCO World Monument, Latin America's biggest colonial complex with buildings dating back from the 16th, 17th and 18th Century, that has been completely overhauled by the city authorities.
Finally we’ll stop at Carmo church and monastery before enjoying our lunch with a chance to reflect on all we've seen today. Dinner at leisure.

Included meals: Breakfast & Lunch

DAY 11 - Cachoeira

Because of its great cultural and architectural heritage dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, the inland town of Cachoeira (meaning ‘waterfall’) is considered a national monument. Today we’ll enjoy a full day in Cachoeira. Lunch will be served in a private country property and we’re sure you’ll find the visit to São Felix and Muritiba cigar factory historically and culturally interesting.
With our time in Brazil coming to an end we’ll have our farewell dinner in a local restaurant and enjoy a folkloric show.

Included meals: Breakfast Lunch & Dinner

DAY 12 - Farewell to Brazil

Transfer back to Salvador airport to catch our return flights to London.

Accommodation: none
